About Us

The Beginning

Everlasting Elopements was founded by husband and wife team, the Esparzas! Husband Reverend Rene Esparza and his wife Kari Esparza met almost 9 years ago, by chance, and have been inseparable ever since. Rene asked for Kari’s hand in marriage in March 2012, and the newly-engaged couple quickly began planning their dream wedding. Kari quickly learned the true expense of a huge wedding and together the couple decided against a big wedding with all the frills and opted for a less-expensive destination wedding in the Dominican Republic with their closest family and friends. Before jetting off, the couple was advised to first get married in the states to save on costs and the trouble of getting the marriage certified once back home.

Kari scoured the internet for an affordable officiant to make their marriage official before they left for the Caribbean but to her surprise, most officiants were charging $400+ for just a quick, less than 10-minute ceremony. The couple didn't need all the frills, just someone to make it official!

How Everlasting Elopements was born…

After an exhaustive search for an affordable service, the couple found an officiant in Austin who did small ceremonies in public locations on weekends. Kari and Rene made the trip to Austin, met with family there, and were very impressed with their experience. This sparked the realization that many other couples might not want or be able to afford an everlasting payment for a big wedding or for renewing their vows. Rene became ordained by the Universal Life Church, and the couple set out on a mission to organize and officiate small ceremonies in San Antonio, Austin and surrounding areas for those couples wanting an everlasting marriage but not an everlasting payment. Everlasting Elopements was born.

Our Mission

To extend our everlasting happiness to other couples looking for an everlasting marriage and not an everlasting payment!

The Future

To the couple’s surprise, Everlasting Elopements has grown leaps and bounds in just two years! Now employing wedding officiants servicing the San Antonio, New Braunfels, Austin and surrounding areas, Everlasting Elopements has extended their reach to serve even more couples! Everlasting Elopements now employs an in-house floral designer,  Erin Rose with Ms. Erin Rose Floral and cake designer, Linda Cupp with Cupp Cakes, who customize each couple’s ceremony to their colors and requests. Photographers  Jesus Fonseca,   Alexei Wood  and  Austin Stuart  also add to the team effort with their photography expertise! In addition, Everlasting Elopements enjoys numerous partnerships with hotels, restaurantssalons, formal wear and other companies to give couples the complete wedding package with exclusive discounts!

With high hopes and hard work, the Esparzas hope to continue to unite happy couples! With 412 ceremonies performed in their first year of business (2013), the couple has set a goal of 1,000 ceremonies for 2014 and beat it with 1,134, along with over   200 5-star reviews!

Look for this couple to be introducing Beach Weddings in Port Aransas, Corpus Christi and Padre Island later in 2016!

Obtaining your marriage license

What are the requirements for getting a marriage license in Texas?

ID Requirement:

In Texas, you will need one valid form of ID such as drivers license, certified copy of your birth certificate, U. S. passport, military ID card, and your social security number.

Residency Requirement:

Neither one of you have to be a resident of Texas. Texas is a great locale for a destination wedding!

Previous Marriage:

If divorced within thirty days, Texas requires that you show a certified copy of your divorce decree stating the 30 day waiting period is waived.

Waiting Period in Texas:

The 72 hours (3 days) waiting period in Texas can be waived for active duty military personnel.

Fees and Other Tests:

$31 – $81 cash, so don’t leave home without it! The fees may vary from Texas county to county. Blood tests or medical examinations are not required in Texas.

A Texas marriage license will expire 30 days after receipt.

Where do I obtain my marriage license?

The couple must go to their County Clerk's office to obtain a marriage license.

Photography

Can I add additional photography?

Yes!

The photography packages we offer range from simple photography packages starting at $225 up to $750 all-inclusive packages, depending on your needs.

Also available is our Upgraded Photography package with either Ryan Hamilton Photography, Aria Productions, Everlasting Memories or Austin Stuart Photography. We have special agreements with these vendors for discounted photography through Everlasting Elopements. Photography from these vendors is specially-designed to enhance our small wedding packages affordably.

Can I bring my own officiant or photographer?

Yes, you may. We do not discount this from our package price.

How can I access my pictures?

About 7-10 business days after your ceremony, we will email you a link to your pictures via Dropbox.com. Here you get full rights to your edited pictures, and you can take them to any photo lab to get your pictures printed. Then, your photographer will send you a link to the rest of the pictures that you can purchase a la carte or as a package.

If I bring my own photographer, will your photographer be taking pictures as well?

Because we specialize in small ceremonies and most of our locations have limited space, having two photographers conflicts and hinders the photographers from getting the best pictures. You may have any photographer you'd like, but if you chose to hire your own photographer, our photographer will not be taking pictures.
